THE RIJKSMUSEUM

This year we visited the Rijksmuseum with all the students of 'Talk Dutch to Me'. It was for many people the first museum visit in the Netherlands. In preparation, we discussed Dutch art, culture and history in the lessons. Of course this was done by means of paintings by the great masters. It was very special to finally see the Milkmaid and the Night Watch in real life. During our visit to the Rijksmuseum, we followed the special NT2 program 'Taste the Golden Age at its best'. That was a great success.

After the museum visit, we had a nice chat during a picnic in the gardens of the Museumplein. The students from Myanmar, Syria, Tibet, India, Rwanda, Bosnia, Brazil, Montenegro and Congo had all brought something tasty from their own country. We got to know each other and each other's culture even better. During the picnic the Parade of Every1 came along, the demonstration to celebrate differences and diversity in the Netherlands. What a coincidence! That's us and that's what we do, with the weekly language course of Coloured Circle.
